Trade Agreements Between South Africa And Kenya

In addition, Kenya`s exports to Africa are value-added products critical to the success of its manufacturing industry and Kenya`s 2030 vision. If Kenya commits to this agreement with the United States, its African counterparts could thwart this trade relationship, probably by introducing non-tariff barriers (NTBs). The goal is therefore to reach an agreement based on the objectives of AGOA and create a basis for the development of trade and investment between the United States and Africa. But Kenya`s unilateral decision to pursue a free trade agreement with the United States has drawn criticism from members of the East African Community (EAC) and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Both the WEEE agreements and the AfCFTA discourage members from pursuing bilateral trade agreements with third parties. . . .
